Summer Reading Program

Imagine Your Story Banner

Summer reading has NOT been canceled. We want to keep you reading and learning this summer! Just like every summer, the San Marcos Public Library is giving you a chance to win cool prizes when you keep track of your summer reading adventures.

There are two ways you can participate this year. You can use our new Reader Zone app, available on smartphones, tablets, and computers, or our low-tech, high-fun game boards. Kids, teens, adults, and even the youngest story-listeners can join in.

Reader Zone Banner

Instead of paper reading logs this year, we’re going online with Reader Zone! You can easily keep track of the number of minutes you read with the Reader Zone app. Just like every other summer, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a prize for every four hours that you read. You can find detailed instructions for getting started with Reader Zone here

If you prefer a more low-tech option this summer, then check out one of our high-fun game boards! All you have to do is complete five challenges to make a diagonal, vertical, or horizontal line for a chance to win a prize. If you’re feeling really ambitious, download Reader Zone and a game board to double your chances of winning prizes!

Star Teen Opportunities

Are you a teen (ages 12-17) looking for an opportunity to earn some volunteer hours?

We would like to invite you to be a Star Teen for the library this summer! There are a number of ways you can receive volunteer hours. Look over the various options in this packet and pick one to complete. We will keep track of and award Star Teens volunteer hours based on which activities you select. You are welcome to repeat activities, as long as the content is different each time. At the end of the summer we will mail you a signed letter with your volunteer hours.

If you are interested in participating this summer, download a Star Teen release form. Have your parent/guardian read and sign it, and either mail it to the library or email it to our Teen Librarian, Pamela Carlile.
