The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is proud to participate in the national Wreaths Across America mission to place Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of Veterans who are resting in the San Marcos City Cemetery. To sponsor a wreath or volunteer to place wreaths on Wreaths Across America Day, please visit the Wreaths Across America website. Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Mobile Education Exhibit
On Thursday, May 18, 2023, the City received the honor of being a stop on the tour of the WAA Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE). The Mobile Education Exhibit is a mobile museum, which provides the unique opportunity for communities to come together and share the stories of those who served and sacrificed. San Marcos community members, dignitaries, Veterans, active-duty military and their families joined City staff and WAA volunteers at VFW Post 3413 to honor our nation’s heroes. Visitors also learned about the national nonprofit and the work its volunteers do to support our heroes and their communities year-round.
