Future Home of Your Fire Station #1 signage has gone up! We'd like to send out a huge thank you to our friends George Alonzo and Joey Garcia for getting these signs hung on the future home site of Fire Station #1, located at 111 E. MLK Dr. We look forward to serving the community from the new and improved Station 1 for many years to come!
First-In Training
Multiple crews were able to conduct first-in training at an acquired structure off of West MLK Dr. this past week. During this timed training, the crews practiced what needs to happen from the time they first arrive on scene to the point of actual entry into the sructure. The crews will have 2 minutes or less from the time the brakes are applied on the apparatus to having all gear and equipment ready for a potential entry.
Term of the Week:
Mutual aid: An agreement between nearby fire companies to assist each other during emergencies by responding with available manpower and apparatus. If these resources can be requested or dispatched without getting specific approval from a chief officer at the time of an incident, this is sometimes referred to as "automatic" mutual aid.
