City Cemetery

The San Marcos Cemetery is under the facility management of the Parks and Recreation Department. Gene Bagwell of Maintenance Management provides upkeep of the cemetery.

Historic Cemetery

The San Marcos City Cemetery, founded in 1874, is located on 45 acres at 1001 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos. The cemetery is the burial ground for many Texas pioneers and veterans of wars dating back to the War of 1812.

Monday April 11,2022 -  Cemetery Cleanup

All items not in compliance with City cemetery regulations will be removed from the burial sites and held until May 15, 2022 for families to pick up at the cemetery maintenance shop. Prohibited items include glass containers, solar lights, spinners, swings and wind chimes. Please see the Cemetery Rules and Regulations for more details. 

Wreaths Across America

Donate to Wreaths Across America. Donations made will go towards a remembrance wreath that will be placed on gravesites of veterans buried in the City of San Marcos Cemetery in mid-December.
