Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

Adults can take proactive steps to protect children from sexual abuse. Using an evidence-informed

approach, attendees will be provided with simple and practical actions to prevent, recognize, and react

responsibly to child sexual abuse. Presented by staff of CASA of Central Texas. Register online, by phone, or in person at the library.

Celebrate the dead through one of humanity’s highest arts: poetry. Community members are encouraged to share a favorite poem or one of their own poems, or just to come and listen. Event will be led by E. D. Watson, poet and library staff member, at the San Marcos cemetery.

El Camino Real de los Tejas the Spanish Royal Roads of Texas

April 24th

10:30 to 11:45 a.m.

The El Camino Real de los Tejas is a National Historic Trail extending from Laredo to Nacogdoches. It was a thoroughfare from the 18th-century Spanish colonial era in Spanish Texas. Hugh Campbell will share his love and extensive knowledge of the significance of the El Camino Real in the settlement, development, and history of Texas. As an extra bonus, Hugh will provide attendees with an annotated map for a driving tour of the trail in Hays County along with a list of relevant and available books from the library.

Master Gardeners on Oak Wilt

6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

John Young will present how to better protect one of your home’s most valuable assets by learning more about this spreading disease and how to better prevent it.
