Prospect Park Natural Area was created when several forward-thinking individuals worked with the city council to develop this space. It sits on a 10 acre, porous section of the Edwards Aquifer and is covered in prominent karst features (rainwater flowing into the ground through limestone rocks). Ashe juniper groves, grassland meadows, ephemeral wetlands and oak mottes co-exist here as well. Benches and interpretive signs are located along the trail and a large compass, which sits opposite The Learning Tree, provides seating and educational opportunities in the lower meadow.
