Pickleball Open Play is offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 11:30 AM for ages 18 and up. We have six courts for Pickleball, which has allowed us to designate three courts as competitive courts and three courts as recreation courts. WellMed Health and Wellness classes are designed for the senior population in our community. Knowing how to stay healthy can make you healthier! WellMed’s Clinic Programs and Patient Education team is dedicated to helping support patients and local seniors in understanding their health and how they can learn to improve, and in some cases, enhance their lifestyle. Classes include topics that impact the health and wellness of seniors in our community. The monthly classes are free and open to the public. There will be a different topic every month. Classes will take place at 10:00 AM at the San Marcos Activity Center. Classes are approximately 1 hour. CHRISTUS HomeCare brings you our new balance class, Active Balance. Join us twice a month for a balance class that will improve your safety and decrease your risk of falls. This class is for those 60 and above, at all activity levels. It will improve confidence, strength and flexibility while increasing mobility. Active Balance will be held on the Second and Fourth Tuesday of the month, from 12:00 Noon—1:00 PM at the San Marcos Activity Center. Participants need to wear loose, comfortable clothing with rubber-soled shoes. Registration is preferred but is not required. Active Balance will not meet on December 26 because the Activity Center is closed that day.

The San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free Holiday Bingo Social sponsored by WellMed. Take a break from the crazy rush of the holiday season and come enjoy some games of Bingo! This event is different from our regular Bingo socials, as the prizes, sponsored by WellMed, are presented with a twist! All 12 of the prizes will be wrapped and presented in a White Elephant fashion. Participants who win will have the option of selecting a wrapped prize, or selecting a prize that has already been opened. If the gift is stolen, then the person whom the gift has been taken from gets to steal another prize from a different participant or choose another wrapped item. There is a limit of 2 steals per game. This adds another whole element of fun! The Special Holiday Bingo sponsored by WellMed will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Join us every month for a SMASH Social Club, Bowling Social, now on Thursdays. The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation and Sunset Bowling Lanes are hosting a Bowling Social each month. These bowling events are for ages 60 and above and will be held from 2-4 PM at Sunset Bowling Lanes, 1304 HWY 123, San Marcos, TX. The fee for this event is $5.00/ person and includes shoe rental and 2 games of bowling. We do ask that you RSVP to nriali@sanmarcostx.gov , call (512) 393-8275 or register for this event by visiting www.sanmarcostx.gov/activesmtx and clicking on activities, so we can get a head count to reserve enough lanes. The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is proud to participate in the national Wreaths Across America mission to place Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of Veterans who are resting in the San Marcos City Cemetery. Join the San Marcos Game Day Club. This social club meets every Monday at the San Marcos Activity Center, from 12:30-4 PM except for City Holidays. Anyone aged 60 or above, interested in joining the Game Day Club, must register for a Game Day Club 2.0 membership by calling 512-393-8280 or by visiting www.sanmarcostx.gov/activesmtx and clicking on memberships and selecting the Game Day Club 2.0. Game materials for Bridge, Mexican Train Dominoes, Hand & Foot, and 42 are provided. We will add new games at your request! Refreshments will not be served or shared. Members must bring their own snacks and drinks. New members are welcome. Pre-Registration is required, same day registration is not allowed. Members, make sure you arrive on time to get in on a game!

You are invited to join us for our first ever Ornament Decorating event, sponsored by WellMed. Participants will be given an ornament to decorate as they wish, using acrylic paints and various craft supplies. This is a free event and all supplies, including the ornaments will be provided by WellMed and San Marcos Parks and Recreation. Ornament Decorating will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 19 at the Dunbar Recreation Center located at 801 West MLK. Registration is required and is limited to 40. 60+ Trivia Time, is a pub style trivia game at the San Marcos Activity Center! Participants will answer multiple choice questions on variety of topics through Trivia Nerd, a web based, trivia hosting platform. A mobile device, such as a smart phone, a tablet, or laptop computer, is required to play. Each participant will use their device to select their answers. Trivia Nerd will keep track of individual scores. Points are awarded for correct answers and additional points are awarded to players that answer the questions the fastest. The topic for the first round will be chosen by the host and additional topics will be chosen by the winner of the previous round. Registration for Trivia time is not required. You will not have to download anything to your device. Play on any smart phone, tablet or laptop, via a web browser. Trivia Time will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday , December 20.
