NOTICE:
Due to the rise in Covid-19 cases the Passport And Vital Statistics services will be closed through January 31st. Normal appointment schedule set to resume on February 1st. To maintain appropriate social distancing procedures within our small office and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus we will be moving to an appointment system. Passport Application Requirements
Evidence of U.S. Citizenship
(one of the following)
- Certificate of Citizenship
- Certified Birth Certificate
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
- Naturalization Certificate
- Previous Passport
Primary Form of Identification
(one of the following)
- Current Government ID
- Current Military ID
- Naturalization Certificate
- Previously Issued U.S. Passport
- Valid Driver's License

Passport Processing Fees
Must be 2 separate payments:
- U.S. Department of State (USDoS)
- City of San Marcos (COSM)

Acceptable Payment Options
Only checks or money orders accepted for payments to USDoS.
The City of San Marcos will accept all forms of payments for the processing fee (excluding American Express).

Additional Information
The new requirements for passports are mandated by the U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security. The 9/11 Commission recommended the stricter documentation for travelers. Congress passed the rules into law in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004.
