Initial Workshops (Summer 2020)

July 23: Virtual Community Workshop

As part of the update to the downtown design standards and guidelines, the city hosted it's first ever Virtual Community Workshop to seek input on the future look and feel of downtown! The event took place on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. online via ZOOM. The Workshop was interactive and participants learned about architectural styles and provided input on the vision for different areas of downtown.

In addition to the virtual event, the city offered a take-home Workshop Toolkit that could be picked up safely outside City Hall. The Toolkit served as a text version of the virtual workshop and included additional text information and multiple choice questions to gather input directly in the toolkit.

Virtual Community Workshop Summary

A summary of results and analysis is available in the link to the right. This document includes results of various polling responses obtained as part of the virtual workshop as well as provides high-level analysis and observations interpreting the workshop results. Results will be taken into consideration during the update to the downtown design guidelines along with other input received from focus group meetings, Planning and Zoning Commission / City Council input, Kickoff survey results and other feedback / input methods.

June 25: Virtual Joint City Council and P&Z Commission Workshop

The San Marcos City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission participated in a virtual joint workshop to discuss the update to the downtown design guidelines on Thursday, June 25, 2020 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
