Don’t toss your hazardous waste in the garbage - Dispose of it for free at the City!

The City of San Marcos hosts collections for household hazardous waste for San Marcos and Hays County residents twice per week at the City Hall traffic yard (634 East Hopkins - Across from the big HEB) on Tuesday and Friday from noon until 3:30 p.m. This is only for residential waste - no commercial waste is accepted.

Items Accepted

The facility accepts, among other things:

  • Batteries
  • Cell phones
  • Degreasers
  • Drain cleaners
  • Fluorescent lights
  • Paints
  • Sharps
  • Weed killers

Items Not Accepted

The facility does not accept:

  • Compressed gas
  • Computers/TVs
  • Cylinders
  • Medical waste (other than sharps)
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Tires
  • Waste generated by business

The reuse facility is open on Tuesdays and Fridays, Noon until 3 p.m. Contact Resource Recovery office for more information: 512-393-8407.
