The fire station group tour program is an educational activity intended to allow school groups, service clubs, youth organizations, church groups and other civic-minded organizations to schedule and participate in a tour of a working fire station. A tour of the fire station can help younger minds understand that our firefighters work a 24 hour shift and live at the fire house.
To schedule firefighters make a personal appearance to your school, daycare, or special event, please fill out the form below. Please note, SMFD does not visit birthday parties. All community events must be submitted 2-weeks in advance.
To schedule firetrucks to join in your parade, please fill out the form below. Please note, the fire truck must be at the very end to provide a quick exit in case of emergency.
At each event, each fire station & firetruck remains "in-service" during tours & visits. Fire companies may need to respond to emergencies at any time. If they do, it will be necessary for the tour to end and your group to exit the station. Please keep this in mind when visiting.
Walk-ins enjoy one-on-one discussions with a firefighter as they are shown around the station and vehicles.
Group tours are customized to the ages and interest of the visitors. Both young and old enjoy getting an up-close look at the fire apparatus, equipment and gear. Firefighters combine fire safety education with each tour.
Dates and Times depend on the availability of the fire department. Please know we will try to accommodate your request to the best of our ability but other dates/times may be offered. Tours are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis and are subject to Operations approval.
