NOTICE: Mayor’s Order Prohibits Gatherings Over 10 & Closes Select Facilities Until May 11
All Parks and Recreation programs and events have been suspended through May 11. The Activity Center is closed until further notice. River front parks, playgrounds, the skate park, dog park, public restrooms and water fountains are closed. River front parks include: Rio Vista, City Park, Plaza Park, Veramendi, Bicentennial, Children’s Park, Crook Park, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Dog Beach, Capes Park, Thompson’s Island, Stokes Park, Ramon Lucio Park, and Wildlife Annex/Wilderness Park. San Marcos will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the State Department of Health Services, the Hays County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control. Current updates and helpful links may be found at www.sanmarcostx.gov/covid19info.
The City of San Marcos and Texas State University have partnered together to offer Total Wellness-San Marcos, comprised of a variety of programs and services designed to meet the health, weight loss, fitness, and/or athletic goals of children, teenagers, and adults of varying fitness levels and abilities.
Group Fitness Classes
Total Wellness-San Marcos offers an array of group exercises classes, including:
- Active Older Adult Fit-Mix and Yoga
- Aqua Pump
- Boot Camp
- Cardio-Resistance Training (Step| Floor)
- Core training
- Zumba Toning®
The classes are held at various times Monday through Saturday (PDF). For less than $30 per month (less than $1 a day), you can invest in your health and enjoy the challenging and fun exercise routines provided by our motivating and well-trained instructors! Aquatic Classes have no limitations on the number of participants per class.
Your membership includes:
- Unlimited attendance to any of the group fitness classes
- Weekly motivational emails with fit tips and healthy recipes
- Monthly newsletter filled with health and fitness information
Parents will be able to work out while their children participate in Fit-Kids Club. Fit-Kids Club is a safe and supervised environment where children ages 1 to 12 years can have fun while engaging in a variety of age-appropriate fitness activities. During the school year, Fit-Kids Club associates can also assist children with their homework. All of our Fit-Kids Club associates have passed a criminal background check, are certified in CPR and First Aid, and have experience in working with small children.

Fitness in the Park
All requests for aerobics, boot camps or any other type of fitness workouts in the park will need to be approved through Community Services Park and Recreation-Fitness before taking place. Contact Jessica Guerra, Aquatic-Fitness Program Coordinator, for more information.
