    The librarians at the San Marcos Public Library are here to play matchmaker! Take a chance and let us set you up on a book date. If you’re lucky, you may even find your next favorite book! Fill out the linked form to participate. Based on your preferences we will place two books on hold for you. Once your items are available to pick up, you will receive a hold notice letting you know your items are ready. You must have a San Marcos Public Library card to participate.

  2. So You've Decided to Homeschool

    Part 1: How to Do It, and How It Works Online program with Nicole Romero-Piche, Director of Love of Learning Hays, a tutoring & homeschool support center. Nicole will provide answers to your nuts-and-bolts questions. Get an overview of homeschool for working and nonworking parents. Learn more about your school choices by comparing public, private, charter, and homeschool options. If homeschool is right for your family, you'll need to know the basics of the related laws, rights, and state requirements as well as K-12 guidance for withdrawing, SPED/504 services, STAAR testing, and re-enrolling. Part 2 - Curriculum, College, Credits, and More... Oh My! Nicole will guide parents through the array of textbook and curriculum options for Kinder to Grade 12 – including discussing ‘grades’, state standards, AP and dual-credit college classes, and more.

  3. Reading Adds Up!

    April 17, 2021, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Online program via Zoom.

    Students from Texas State University’s Teacher Education program will host a fun-filled hour of math and literacy. These future teachers will read a variety of children’s stories, and then explore math concepts related to the story with kids. Adult guests are welcome to ask questions and learn strategies. This event is most appropriate for children ages 4-11. Sessions will run continuously, so you may join and leave at any time during the hour event. Registration is required. You will need to complete a separate registration for each child that wishes to attend.

  1. Tales on the Trails/Roll & Read

    The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, San Marcos Public Library, and Community Action, Inc. are partnering to bring you Tales on the Trails in conjunction with Roll & Read! The April 2021 Tales on the Trails and Roll & Read event will be set up between San Marcos Plaza Park and Children's Park and will feature "Mermaids are Magical - You Can Be Too" by Marieta Hutchison. You and your family are invited to take a self-guided tour along the accessible trail between San Marcos Plaza Park and Children's Park, starting at the mermaid statute in Plaza Park. Please show respect when enjoying our programs and beautiful natural areas by not removing or destroying items along the trail system. Thanks for helping make this program successful for our whole community!
